Individuals can purchase the dumpling-like pasta frozen or fresh and prepare it by boiling, baking, or frying.

Butter combined with fragrant herbs to create a rich yet delicate sauce is a classic accompaniment for ravioli. One recipe combines garlic, spinach, and sage. It begins with melting butter over medium-low heat in a large skillet. To avoid burning, stir constantly. Add chopped pine nuts and minced garlic when the butter sizzles and foams. At the same time, place the ravioli in a pot to boil.

Still stirring the skillet, allow the mixture to brown, typically taking three to five minutes. Add dried sage, spinach, and a quarter cup of water from the ravioli. Once the spinach wilts over low heat, add the fully cooked and drained ravioli to the skillet and toss them with the butter sauce. Many ravioli connoisseurs will top the dish with cracked pepper and grated Parmesan.
