We all know that working out is good for the body, but it also does interesting things to the brain.

As a person begins working out the heart rate increases, resulting in more blood flowing to the brain. This blood flow brings both oxygen and nutrients to the brain.

During the workout, proteins are released into the brain. These proteins are good for brain cells, or neurons. They keep neurons healthy as well as promoting the growth of new neurons.

Two other chemicals that are released in the brain during a workout are dopamine and endorphins. These chemicals cause a person to feel happy.

Aside from improving one’s mood, working out gets rid of chemicals in the brain that cause stress and anxiety. People who work out not only feel less stress, they are also less prone to getting angry and being upset.
